About

In my wanderings I have spent 3 years in Wisconsin; 3 in South Carolina; 2 in Beijing, China; and a summer in Ramallah Israel/West Bank/Palestine/… The remainder of my life has been spent mostly in the wonderful state of Indiana.

I grew up in a conservative Bible-believing churches. A Grace Brethren church until Jr. High and an independent Baptist church (GARBC) thereafter. Like many “born and raised” Christians I rebelled in my teen years and spent the majority of those years apart from the Lord and the fellowship of his people.

In his good grace, he called me to himself and raised me out of the miry pit to which I had plunged. I graduated from Northland Baptist Bible College, and got married the following summer. The next summer my wife and I left for China to teach English at a university in Beijing. After two years we returned to the States so I could pursue seminary education. I received an M.A. in Bible from Bob Jones University Seminary.

Currently I am the pastor at Banquo Christian Church in Banquo, Indiana.  (Though the postman says we are in La Fontaine.)

My theological influences include (in chronological order) the Holy Trinity, Moses, David, the Prophets, St. John, St. Paul, the church fathers, Calvin, A.W. Tozer, and reformed-leaning evangelicals. Currently I am reading through–with much enjoyment–Herman Bavinck’s Reformed Dogmatics.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I welcome your comments on anything I post and I will do my best to respond promptly.

Now stop messing around here and go study your Bible!

  1. I would like to know more about you Brad.
My husband’s name is Bradley Kelly.
I would like to also let you know that his
    religious beliefs are also stong.

  2. hey Pastor Brad, I think my parents would adopt you if they could! Ha Ha!! (Bob and Marilyn Couch)
On the serious side, I think they enjoy having you as their pastor, but I must say for myself and my husband Jeremy, it’s a little odd having a Pastor younger than ourselves!!! Never saw that one coming, oh well! We’re happy to have you and your family at Banquo.

  3. Brad,
Interesting “about”. Though I am not proud of it, my life followed many of the same routes, even Indiana. I have made this point many times. If a person is happy with their current life
(not perfect, but HAPPY) one cannot look back with regrets, for if one had made a different turn in their lives, they most likely would not be where they are…………..HAPPY!
